Image Manipulation

So far we have looked at the different resolutions and DPI for images that you have taken (primary sources) or found (secondary sources). We now need to consider why we have been looking at this information and what relevance it has to you and your final assignment.

To begin we will resize an image / some images in Photoshop so that we can compare the quality, however, this time, unlike before, we will be comparing the quality on different interactive media platforms.

Step 1:
Select your favourite image from the digital camera task

Step 2:
Open the image in Photoshop

Step 3:
Resize the original image to 75%, 50% and 25% (save each time as a JPEG or PNG and remember to start from the original image each time)

If you are not confident resizing images, have a look at this helpful guide.

Step 4:
Resize the original image to 125%, 150% and 200% (save each time as a JPEG or PNG and remember to start from the original image each time)

Step 5:
Upload the images to your blog with the title 'Image Manipulation' and access the blog post from a. your desktop PC, b. your mobile phone and c. a tablet (if you have access to one)

Step 6:
Summarise your findings below the images and be sure to comment upon;
- loading times of images
- image quality
- what image size you will need to use (as a minimum and maximum) for your own interactive media product.
