Now that you have designed your interactive media products (websites and web apps), you need to look at the software and applications that you will be using to create your product. For this task you will be using an interactive PowerPoint and you can find everything that you need in Student Shared on the P: drive (in Computer).
- open PowerPoint from the Start menu and select the blank presentation template
- do not choose any designs / slide styles as you will be making this from scratch
- go to view and select 'slide master' - this is where you can add any assets that you want to appear on each page. You will want to put your background and home icon here so that you do not have to keep adding them to each slide. If you put your home icon on first, you will need to 'move your background to the back' when you add it otherwise the home icon will not be visible. Click on the image then go to 'picture tools', 'format' and 'move backwards' to achieve this
- click close master view to exit and get back to the 'normal' view
- right click on the slide on the left and duplicate it so that you have at least 4 slides. YOu can then begin to add all of the elements for 4 of the pages (you can pick the three that you want to do but you must create the home page). The assets are in the Student Shared folder but you can make / find your own if needed (and if you're quick!)
- when you have your pages set up with the component parts, you can begin linking them. To do this, right click on a layer / asset that you want to use as a link for navigation and then select 'hyperlink', this will allow you to choose a destination. If you select 'place in this document' from the left hand side, you will be able to choose a page that you have created and then, when you click on the asset when presenting, you will be taken to another page. Ensure that you go back in to your slide master and do this for all of the home links so that they all navigate back to the home page
- if you finish early, start making some improvements. I have not made the perfect interactive media product and there is plenty of room for improvement, e.g., do i always follow a recognised web layout? Do all of the images / assets navigate somewhere? Are all of the images a high enough resolution to be used on a professional product?
