Video File Types and Settings

This task is focused on finding out what settings will work best for you when you come to make your own video for your own website during the final assignment?

To begin, open a PowerPoint and explain:

  • What is meant by SD and HD?
  • What is meant by FPS (have a look and play around with this
  • Create three 10 second videos (minimum of three controlled shots on each) using a handycam, DSLR and mobile phone (checking and documenting settings prior to shooting)
  • Compare the three videos on the devices – which looks best and why?
  • Write a short summary explaining what resolution and FPS you filmed in, on what devices and also which one worked / looked best. You will also need to specify what the file size of the 10 second video is
  • Complete the post with a decision - what device will you use to film your video for the final assignment? Why? Think about file types, size and also mobility and how user-friendly the device is.
